Translate YouTube videos.
Hear them in your language.

Play any YouTube video, choose the language being spoken and the one you want to hear, and press Start. The translation is spoken over the original as it plays, with live subtitles.

Spoken, not just captions

The translated voice reads over the original, which is turned down while it speaks — you can listen without reading.

Live subtitles too

The same translation runs as text in the side panel, so you can read along or copy it.

Any pair of 39 languages

Pick the spoken language and the one you want to hear. A Japanese talk into Spanish works the same as English into Turkish.

What works, and what does not

  • Translates the sound of one tab you choose — nothing else.
  • Works on videos without captions, since it listens to the audio.
  • Keeps going while you switch to other tabs.
  • DRM-protected content, such as paid movies, cannot be captured by any browser extension. If no sound arrives, the extension says so.
  • Want a summary instead? The voice assistant summarises a YouTube video from its captions.
  • Every tab, not just YouTube: see live tab translation.

What it sends, and what it keeps

Only the sound of the tab you chose is sent, and only to translate it. Call2Me does not record it.

The translator never reads the page itself.

Chrome shows its own recording indicator while a tab is being translated.

Questions

Does it translate any YouTube video?

It translates the sound of the tab you choose, so it works with ordinary YouTube videos and livestreams, with or without captions. DRM-protected content, such as paid movies, cannot be captured by any browser extension; if no sound arrives, the extension tells you.

Which languages?

39 languages. You choose the language being spoken and the language you want to hear, so it is not limited to translating into English.

Is it a dub or subtitles?

Both. The translation is read aloud over the original, which is turned down while the translated voice speaks, and the same text runs as live subtitles in the side panel.

Can I switch tabs while it runs?

Yes. It keeps translating the tab you started it on while you work in other tabs.

What does it cost?

Every browser gets 5 minutes to try it, one time. Signing in with a Call2Me account raises that to 20 minutes. After that, translation is billed per minute from a prepaid balance you top up inside the extension.

Is the audio recorded?

No. Only the sound of the tab you chose is sent to Call2Me and its providers to translate it; Call2Me does not record it. Chrome shows its own recording indicator while a tab is being translated.
